Visit art (artist) and craft studios and workshops (woodwork, garden pots, paintings, paua creations, paintings, stone and glass work), enjoy a glass of wine, coffee and a meal at award winning restaurants and cafes, stay at one of the various accommodations (self contained or bed and breakfast or catered even!), take a tour to the gannet sanctuary at Cape Kidnappers, do a tour of the Cape Kidnappers Wilderness - see kiwi, penguin and other NZ birds; swim in the sea or Tukituki River, visit a museum, stay a night or two or three (motor camps, self contained cottages or bed and breakfast accommodation available) - you will be delighted by the range of activities and unique attractions in this sunny corner of the East Coast of New Zealand.
The NZ Cycle Trail follows the Kidnappers Escape route: it is the coastal portion of the Landscapes Trail. It is a gentle family-friendly ride, most of it along limestone paths, some of it on the road, as marked on the map.
The trail starts in Clive (about 10 km from Napier, Hastings or Havelock North) and goes along the coast through Haumoana, Te Awanga and Clifton (approximately 12 km from Clive to Te Awanga).
The map is drawn as if you are driving / biking the trail so instead of the usual north facing orientation, it is actually east-facing!
